Why the split is weighted this way
wheelbase, 45%: The base sets the ceiling for everything you can feel through the wheel.
pedals, 30%: Braking is where lap time is won, and a load cell brake is the single biggest upgrade most people can make.
cockpit, 20%: A frame that flexes throws away the force the base is producing.
wheel, 5%: Rims change the feel least. Buy the cheap one first and upgrade later.
What this tool will not do
It will not pretend a product has a price it has not published. Several brands do not put a readable price on their own product pages, so those products cannot appear here even when they would be the better buy. The full catalogue, priced or not, is on the gear index.
